7742 15th Ave NE Seattle
Ungenda (Tom Mattausch)
30' x 90'1" x 25'10"
1927-2021
Concrete, old growth fir, slipper shade chandeliers, cast art shades, Jazz Plaster, Egyptian-made mosaic
An immersive installation, reworked from a previous incarnation by unknown early 20th century creators. This piece aims to imbue the viewer with the ethos of ages past through an idealized aesthetic feast, while itself withstanding the continuing onslaughts of age and use unperturbed. As we enter the centennial anniversary of Art Deco, this paean to its legacy reaches out to make us feel the connection to our past.
