MISSION STATEMENT

To create novel, expressive art which draws inspiration from historical structures and themes.

MEDIA

Installation specific, including: blown glass, stone, mosaic, concrete/GFRC, ceramics, metal, digital media, water.

QUALITIES

·         Constantly expanding palette composed of multiple emerging and traditional media

·         Consistently inspired by old and new architecture, philosophical inquiries, and post-religious Nihilism

·         Largely self-taught; capable of quickly integrating new materials & themes to realize a coherent vision

·         Other creative interests include drumming for Seattle-based rock band Falquez

·         Apt communication, coordination, & organization skills gleaned from education & experience

CAREER SUMMARY

·         First public art commission, “American Suikinkutsu,” installed January 2010 at Cascade Valley Hospital

·         Several large scale private commissions including “American Aqueduct”

·         Intensive study of and teaching wheel thrown ceramics during high school

·         Diverse undergraduate studies at Seattle Pacific University including drawing, design fundamentals, and advanced independent ceramics

·         Six glassblowing classes at Pratt Fine Arts Center with wonderful instructors

·         Mentored by David Smith of Blowing Sands Glassblowing Studios in Ballard where he also teaches

·         True introductions to life as an artist via Pilchuck Glass School in 2008 (Cork Marcheschi), Pilchuck Glass School 2009 (Rob Stern), and  Penland School of Crafts 2009 (Joe Cariati and Adam Holtzinger)
